Benscreek Sewer Project.

The proposed Benscreek Sanitary Sewer Project includes the construction of approximately 160,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer lines, construction of one sewage pump station, modifications to the existing Greenhouse Park Pump Station, and construction of sludge dewatering facilities at the Tire Hill Sewage Treatment Plant.

The Project will serve the Benscreek area of Conemaugh Township, including a corridor along State Route 985 (Somerset Pike) from Tire Hill to the Village of Thomas Mills.  The Project also includes a corridor along State Route 4018 (Ligonier Pike) to the Somerset-Cambria County line, the Ideal area, and Moonlite Park Road areas of Conemaugh Township.

Preliminary engineering estimates for the Project are $16,513,000.  Funding has been offered by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) in the form of a $2,688,616 grant and a loan of $12,711,384.  The remaining $1,113,000 will be funded by initial service fees (sometimes called “tap fees”) payable by new customer connections to the Benscreek lines after construction.
